King's Mill Hospital

King's Mill Hospital (or King's Mill Centre) is a hospital situated adjacent to the main A38 road in a former large open space, part of the countryside on the boundary between the towns of Sutton-in-Ashfield and Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England. Nearby developments include a large road junction with adjacent fast-food and pub, a hotel, a large DIY retail materials-warehouse and small shops together with some traditional, established housing on the very-edge development areas of the two district councils.
The majority of the hospital buildings are inside Ashfield District Council (town planning) area with some peripheral buildings falling under Mansfield District Council planning controls.〔() Mansfield District Council planning application archive, Byron House, Miller's Way. ==Overview==

The hospital serves the towns and many villages in the Mansfield Urban Area, parts of the adjacent Nottingham Urban Area, and also parts of the neighbouring county of Derbyshire. The ambulance station, opened in 1981, is close-by on the A38 road,〔() 'Our Mansfield and Area' website administered by Mansfield District Council Museum ''ANNALS OF MANSFIELD'' - 'Timeline' "''1981 - King`s Mill Ambulance Station, Sutton Road, was officially opened by Mr. E. Paper.''" Retrieved 2013-12-31〕 separated from the hospital complex by Morrisons supermarket car park, which shares an approach-road with the hospital.
The hospital contains a full Accident & Emergency Department, with a helipad situated in the nature reserve to the rear of the hospital, where the air ambulance regularly lands.
The next-nearest hospital is Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, where patients may be sent in the event that King's Mill cannot provide sufficient facilities.
King's Mill Hospital is the primary site of Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Providing healthcare services to around 300,000 people, it serves Mansfield, Ashfield and the surrounding areas.
King's Mill Centre joined with Newark General Hospital and Ashfield and Mansfield District Community Hospitals in 2001 to form Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust, which in February 2007 became Sherwood Forest NHS Foundation Trust following its successful application to Monitor, the governing body.
